The Ultimate Guide to Cruelty-Free Household Products
All of us use products around our homes to keep our living spaces clean and hygienic. However, in our busy lives, the brands of sprays, soaps, detergents, and wipes we purchase might be the last thing on our minds. We may opt to buy those products that are the least expensive, that we’ve always used, or that just happen to be on the shelf when we’re out shopping.
Unfortunately, many of the products we’re so accustomed to purchasing and using in our homes have harmful effects on the environment and on our own health. When we use these products on the surfaces we touch on a daily basis, we are literally absorbing the toxins they contain. Furthermore, a large proportion of these products are tested on animals and/or contain animal byproducts. Animal testing and obtaining animal byproducts is not only painful but can result in long-term or permanent injury or disease or even death of the animal.
If you are looking for ways to be more conscious about your purchasing habits and your impact on the environment, other living beings, and your health and the health of those around you, you can consider investing in brands that manufacture and/or sell cruelty-free household products. As a reminder, cruelty-free means that the products were not tested on animals and do not contain animal byproducts. Below is a list of cruelty-free household product brands, which you can print out and take with you the next time you go shopping! We’ve organized these brands by kitchen, laundry, furniture/surfaces, bathroom, body soaps, pet care, baby, air/fragrance, and auto cleaners.
If you’re also looking for a list of cruelty-free beauty and personal care products, please refer to our recent blog.
