Konversation with Bere Blissenbach: Life Coach & Writer

Bere-Blissenbach-2635 Konversation with Bere Blissenbach: Life Coach & WriterFor this week’s Konversation, we interviewed Bere Blissenbach, a life coach and writer from the Washington, DC area. Bere has her own practice called Work You Love Coach, and she offers her life coaching sessions on Konversai. Learn more about Bere and what she can offer you below!

Konversai: What does a typical day look like for you? This could include at work and/or outside of work.

Bere: After waking up, I typically first go through my morning routine, which involves journaling and priority setting. I find my work day is so much more productive if I first do these things instead of jumping straight into reading my emails, for instance.

After finishing my morning routine, I might start working on writing articles or creating other content. I might also reach out or respond to people or work on projects before my first client session or call with a colleague.

After I finish work in the evening, I generally exercise and then have dinner together with my husband.

Konversai: How did you end up where you are today?

Bere: I have a legal background and a Ph.D. in law, so it might seem strange that I now help people create work and a life they love.

However, I think that work and love are two of the most important things to bring meaning to people’s life.

I also believe that the world would be a better place if more people did work they love. As Khalil Gibran put it in one of his poems that really moves me, “work is love made visible.”

Having gone through a process of change in this area in my life has motivated me to help other people who want this for themselves.

Ultimately, I started Work You Love Coach because it combines something that felt really aligned for me and for the type of impact I want to have in the world. I love seeing people connect with their purpose and do something that’s good for them, good for the people around them, and good for the world.

I wanted to be part of the solution that helps people find a way to bring their heart to work so they can make the difference they’d like to make.

Konversai: What is your favorite thing about what you do?

Bere: I get so excited when a client tells me that they now feel they’re on the right path. It’s a very rewarding feeling.

Konversai: Are there additional sessions you are hoping to offer on Konversai in the future?

Bere: I would find it interesting to offer a session about developing intercultural sensitivity. As someone who has lived on a few different continents and is in a bicultural relationship, it’s a topic that I’m rather well-versed in by now.

Konversai: Are there sessions that you are excited about taking with other providers on the platform? Which ones? What are you hoping to learn more about?

Bere: I’m particularly curious about providers who offer to help you learn or perfect a language. I heard from one person who became fluent in Spanish after consistently scheduling sessions to practice. She’s also taken a couple of sessions each for Portuguese, Italian, and Hebrew, and American Sign Language and is now attempting to learn Hindi.

If there are martial arts-related sessions on Konversai, I’d also be curious to try those out.

Konversai: What do you enjoy doing outside of work and Konversing?

Bere: I really love to write. While some of my writing is for my work, I also enjoy writing fiction. I also like to read (both fiction and nonfiction) and learn new things.

I love spending time with people I like. I also like to exercise (well, not always but I always like how I feel afterward), and I recently restarted going to martial arts classes.

Konversai: Anything else you want to share with our users and potential users?

Yes, there’s a beautiful quote that I love to share with people:

“There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. If you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and be lost. The world will not have it.”

Legendary choreographer Martha Graham shared these words with her protégé Agnes de Mille, but I think they apply to everyone who’s reading this.
